Weekend getaways are the best. It’s that quick break to give your family time to collect themselves and see something new. And there’s plenty of ‘great outdoors’ around us to select for a trip.
If you and your family would benefit from a short break on the weekend, here are some perfect short trips you can make around Bremerton:
Manchester State Park - An excellent park for the outdoor experience is Manchester State Park, with hiking, boating, fishing, and kayaking. The park has 35 standard campsites, 15 partial-hookup sites, and two restrooms and showers; Manchester can accommodate an enormous rush. And if you’re planning a big family reunion, there’s a large group accommodation that has room for 12 RV hookups. Don’t forget to check out Torpedo Warehouse, which was once was a factory for submarine torpedoes and underwater mines to protect Bremerton harbor. Built back in 1901, the factory is now an event center!
Illahee State Park - offering boating, a softball field, saltwater fishing, swimming, and two volleyball fields, there’s loads to do at Illahee! There are 23 standard sites, two full-hookup sites, one dump station, four restrooms (two ADA), and two showers. Tent spaces are suitable for any RV but provide no hookups.
Blake Island Marine State Park - Accessible only by boat, Blake Island offers a change of pace not far from Seattle. In addition to the Argosy Cruises excursions, this destination features blue waters, peaceful trails, driftwood-scattered beaches, and views of the city and Mt. Rainier. The campground has 44 standard sites, three Cascadia Marine Trail sites, one marine dump station, four restrooms (one ADA), and e August blog for your approval! Lone shower area.
Cabins - Love the great outdoors, but only in small doses? If you need some creature comforts out in the wild, cabins can provide most of the amenities of home in a different environment. There are lodges for rent in Leavenworth and Winthrop that will allow you to be within walking distance of trails and adventures but still be close to a sound structure for a good night’s sleep. The Millersylvania Retreat Center has cabins for rent!
